Fall Is In the Air

The temperatures are down and leaves are changing. Yesterday we went to school in the dark and rain. . .Not always a warm feeling on back country mountainous roads but we do what we do.

Today, I'm hoping to make a trip up into the mountains to Cades Cove. It's a beautiful old town up in the middle of the park where a generation of my family still lies buried in an old cemetery. If we don't make it today, I'm certainly hoping for tomorrow.

For this moment, I need to fix breakfast, take something for a sinus headache, and file this weeks reports with my supervisor. I love these hills.

From the River on the Hillside

That sort of sums up our life here on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It's quiet, it's simple, and sometimes it's none of the above. Welcome to our world.
